Your body is your most trusted advisor | One-card tarot
The Princess of Disks arrives with gentle wisdom: building lasting success requires both heart AND body. After sharing my own struggles with exhaustion and overwork, she reminds us that rest isn't the enemy of progress — it's part of the strategy.
Happy Friday!
Today we enter into the court of Disks (Pentacles) — and we encounter the Princess of Disks. This week we've had The Devil and The Emperor appear to address the big picture themes going on in our lives this season.
Now, the Princess of Disks arrives, eager to discuss our relationship with the material and earthly aspects of life.
"I admire your commitment to yourself and your ambitious plans," she says gently, "but as you start building, don't forget to listen to what your body is telling you."
Poised as ever, this princess understands the value of determination and discipline. She knows from experience that building anything lasting requires both heart AND body to endure what lies ahead.
It's funny how I'm connecting with this princess, nodding along to the wisdom she imparts. Letting her words sink in, I tune inward to my body and feel its weariness.
At the bottom of my throat, there's a hard lump — a dry dull ache that water can't seem to quench or relieve. Maybe a bit too much information, but my period has lasted about 12 days now, and the cramps are finally letting up. Practicing daily asana yoga has been inspiring for the past week and a half, but I recognize this command to rest.
I laid down after yoga class to catch my breath and instantly fell into a deep slumber, waking up with a low-grade fever and knowing my body yearns to sleep for the next 12 hours.
Pulling this Princess of Disks felt like a gentle reminder to listen to my body. If I run it into the ground pursuing my goals, I'll just repeat the same cycle of overworking and burnout — nursing wounds instead of celebrating achievements.
I want to savor and enjoy life and the process, and if I'm too tired to manage that, then I should just put down my weapons to fight another day. Resting is a privilege, I get that, but it's a privilege until you have no choice.
After landing in the ICU before and seeing how stress and overworking can wreak havoc on your body... I think it's wise to check in with your body and confirm you're ready to keep trudging forward.
And it's honest, clarifying work to say you need more time, more rest, and you can make that part of the action plan. Just remember that when you've got sufficient energy, it's time to get back to walking the path again.
Here are some additional affirmations the Princess of Disks would share:
- "My body's wisdom is part of my success strategy."
- "I honor my energy as the foundation of all I build."
- "Rest is productive work toward my goals."
If there's anything I can impart to you, dear reader, it's to listen to your body today. Better yet — listen to your body every day.
Make it a habit to sit and scan your body — where are you holding tension and what needs tender love and care?
Trust what it's telling you.
If you're new to listening to your body, be patient with yourself. Learning your body's non-verbal cues may take time, but believe me — it has many things to share. Your body deserves the same (if not more) attention and effort you invest into the external goals you strive for.
Whether your body is asking for rest or is ready for action today, honor that wisdom.
Your body is your most trusted advisor — start treating it like one. It knows things your mind hasn't figured out yet.
Your dreams will wait. In fact, they've been patiently rooting for you to show up when you're ready to claim them sustainably.
Thanks for being here.
Sincerely,
Nadine of the New Moon ♥
