Finding myself again: intro to my daily blog
Welcome to my experiment in finding myself again through words. After getting lost in social media noise, I'm documenting my journey back to authentic creativity.
Welcome to my experiment in finding myself again through words.
I initially started daily blogging as a means to reconnect with my voice and my creativity. As someone who grew up on the internet and subsequently, social media, I didn't question how it was shaping my mind, my thoughts, my own creative power and uniqueness.
Certainly, everyone is unique and beautiful in their own right. I believe this wholeheartedly. In my case, I felt my own beauty and what made me me kept getting buried further and further underneath the dizzying onslaught of endless scrollable content.
There is a wealth of creatives, brands, and companies that compete for space to share their art, their services, and their products. Somewhere amongst the noise, I lost touch with who I was underneath it all.
So, for the first time in over 2 decades, I decided to step back from engaging with the Big Web (corporate-owned sites, including mainstream social media like Instagram and TikTok) and retreated to the Small Web. That led me to writing my first blog post that started my daily blog challenge (which I'm still keeping alive as of today, this post counts as Day 75).
My efforts in daily blogging led me to trying out different blogging platforms created by independent developers. I ended up managing three blogs for a short while, they can all be found on nadine.omg.lol if you desire to peruse them.
While experimenting with multiple platforms taught me a lot about what I was looking for, I've decided to consolidate my writing efforts here on my main site, newmoonnadine.com. This feels like the right home base for this next phase of the journey.
After staying off social media for over 2 months, I am slowly re-entering online society with the aim to present myself in a more meaningful, authentic manner. The time away has given me mental clarity and creative freedom, helping me understand what boundaries are needed to preserve my unique voice and creativity.
My hope is this will allow me to connect more deeply and more truthfully with others, as I have suffered from self-exclusion and masking in efforts to 'fit in'. This is very much a new beginning for me in many ways, so by no means do I claim to have all the answers.
These daily blog posts won't be polished – they're stream-of-consciousness writings that document the emotions, experiences, or musings of each day. Often philosophical, I hope they reveal what I'm working on, what's on my mind, and show you what's possible on your own journey of becoming.
Thanks for taking the time to read this. Whether you stay for just this post or follow along on this journey for months, know that I'm grateful for your presence. I have a pseudo-goal to hit at least 100 days of daily blogging, but my real intent is to keep daily blogging so long as it's sustainable.
I find great benefit in writing publicly daily, it truly is different than private journaling. If you're ever interested in starting up your own personal blog (or if you already have one), please feel free to reach out and share it with me. I'd love to connect with fellow bloggers or just chat over email – it is a lovely way to communicate in a way that is unrushed and low pressure.
Looking forward to continuing this journey out loud, hopefully with some of you along the way.
Thanks for being here.
Sincerely,
Nadine ♥
